Improving Environmental Health
We invest in research into more effective ways to manage water and nutrient resources on wool-growing properties. Water allocations are in place to prevent over usage and improve land management.
Our research into the potential impacts of grazing on biodiversity and extension of sustainable land management practices has shown sheep can assist in the sustainable management of Australian landscapes and mixed farming operations.
By 2022, 50% of Australian woolgrowers will be taking up climate variability practices. The Woolmark Company’s parent provides practical tools and tactics to manage climate risk, while maintaining productivity.
A 5-year project has begun this year to capture and report on-farm stewardship by woolgrowers assessing impacts on soil health, biodiversity, and threatened native species.
